What goes into the weight
Water is most of it. Fresh water weighs 8.34 pounds a gallon and salt water about 8.55. The tank itself is worked out from the area of its five panels, their thickness, and the density of glass or acrylic.
If you leave the wall thickness blank, the calculator uses a typical thickness for a tank of that volume. Thicker glass, a glass lid, or a rimless tank will weigh more, so read the empty weight as an estimate.
Will my floor hold it
Homes in the US are generally built for a live load of around 40 pounds per square foot spread across a whole room, and a filled aquarium concentrates far more than that in one spot. Small tanks are rarely a problem. For anything over about 55 gallons on an upper floor, set the tank across the joists and near a load-bearing wall, and ask a structural engineer if you are unsure.
